Authorities in Tulsa, Oklahoma, arrested an 11-year-old boy following a reported attempted robbery and subsequent confrontation with police at an apartment complex earlier this week.

According to police reports, officers responded on May 27, 2026, to an armed robbery complaint at the Windsong Apartments near 31st Street and Mingo Road.

Investigators say a 12-year-old victim reported that he was riding his bicycle when he was approached by a group of children, some of whom were allegedly wearing ski masks.

The victim told officers that several members of the group were carrying Orbeez-style toy guns during the encounter and attempted to steal his bicycle. Police say the child was struck multiple times but ultimately managed to recover his bicycle and return home, where he reported the incident to family members and authorities.

Officials stated that the victim sustained minor injuries but declined medical treatment at the scene.

What Authorities Say Happened

Following the report, officers searched the surrounding area and later located a group matching the victim’s description in a nearby parking lot.

During the encounter, police allege that an 11-year-old boy pointed an Orbeez-style toy gun toward a patrol vehicle as officers approached the group.

Authorities then took the child into custody without further incident.

Police also reported recovering several items from the scene, including an Orbeez-style toy gun, a ski mask, and a vape device.

Charges and Investigation

The 11-year-old was transported to a youth intervention facility and now faces multiple charges related to the incident, including obstruction and possession-related offenses.

Officials emphasized that imitation weapons can create dangerous situations, particularly during encounters with law enforcement officers responding to emergency calls.

“Even toy or imitation firearms can quickly escalate situations and create serious misunderstandings,” authorities stated while discussing the incident.

The investigation remains ongoing as police continue reviewing the circumstances surrounding the reported attempted robbery and determining the involvement of other individuals present during the incident.

Community Concerns

The case has raised concerns among residents about juvenile behavior, safety within apartment communities, and the growing use of realistic-looking imitation weapons by minors.

Law enforcement officials continue encouraging parents and guardians to speak with children about the potential dangers associated with toy weapons that closely resemble real firearms, particularly in public settings.

Further updates are expected as the investigation continues.
