According to the Georgia State Patrol, the crash occurred around 9:40 p.m. on May 28, 2026, along Williams Road near Parkway Place Drive. Investigators reported that Deaver was driving a Mercury sedan westbound when the vehicle allegedly lost control, left the roadway, and struck a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene and was the only occupant in the vehicle.

Bulloch County Coroner Chuck Francis responded to the scene and officially identified the victim as Dalton Deaver of Statesboro. The investigation is being led by Trooper First Class Keith McCarty of Georgia State Patrol Post 45.
