Authorities in Tulsa, Oklahoma, are continuing their investigation after an 11-year-old boy was arrested in connection with a reported attempted robbery involving Orbeez-style toy guns at a local apartment complex. According to police, officers responded on May 27, 2026, to reports of an armed robbery near the Windsong Apartments located around 31st Street and Mingo Road. The incident began when a 12-year-old boy told officers he had been approached while riding his bicycle through the area. The victim reported that a group of children, some allegedly wearing ski masks, surrounded him and attempted to steal his bicycle. During the confrontation, several of the individuals were said to be carrying Orbeez-style toy guns, which fire small gel pellets and are designed to resemble real firearms. Police said the boy was struck multiple times during the encounter but managed to hold onto his bicycle and return home safely. Authorities confirmed the victim suffered minor injuries but declined medical treatment after speaking with officers. Following the report, police began searching the surrounding neighborhood and later located a group of juveniles matching the description provided by the victim. Officers encountered the group in a nearby parking lot, where investigators say the situation escalated further. According to police statements, an 11-year-old boy allegedly pointed an Orbeez-style gun toward a patrol vehicle as officers approached. The child was immediately taken into custody without further incident. During the investigation, officers reportedly recovered several items believed to be connected to the case, including a toy gun, a ski mask, and a vape device. The child was transported to a youth intervention center and is facing multiple complaints related to obstruction and possession-related offenses. Law enforcement officials stressed that imitation firearms can create extremely dangerous situations, especially when officers responding to emergency calls are unable to immediately distinguish toy weapons from real guns. Authorities noted that incidents involving replica-style weapons have increasingly raised concerns nationwide because of their realistic appearance. The Tulsa Police Department has not yet released additional information regarding the possible involvement of other juveniles connected to the reported robbery attempt. Investigators continue reviewing evidence and speaking with witnesses as the case remains active. Officials are encouraging parents and guardians to discuss the risks associated with imitation weapons and the potential consequences that can arise when such items are used during confrontations or criminal activity.
